Harvest Table In The New York Times!
"She wanted to run a cafe somewhere in New Jersey, she said, but she also wanted to enrich the culinary landscape of whatever neighborhood she landed in. “When I finally found the spot, I knew,” she said. “Newark is definitely in need of fresh, healthy food.”"Read The Full Article At The New York Times

" Healthy delicious food IN NEWARK. Damn right. Don't misunderstand, Newark has a fair share of fine eaterys. The Theater Square Grill, 27 Mix, all those spanish /portugese places in the ironbound however none are healthy. This place is the sh*t. Everything is insanely fresh. The porobello burgers, the wraps, the smoothies. The best staff and the owner, Carissa, is an absolute sweetheart. The walls are filled with art from local artists, and events are bringing life back to downtown after hours. Go for the food, go for the fun, go for the sake of your suffering colon. Oh yeah and go for the homemade granola bars... yum. "-Artie M.
" Harvest Table is a GREAT organic food eatery in downtown Newark. The food is always fresh and delicious. The smoothies are incredible. The vibe of the place is great, welcoming, the walls lined with the masterpieces of local artists. They also host events: open mics, lectures, food tastings. The owner, Carissa, is sweet as can be. She always has some new treat she's concocted on hand. She's very helpful to suggest the right menu for anyone with food allergies and concerns. It is TRULY a gem to a rapidly reviving city. Thanks Harvest Table!!! "

" Newark has long suffered from a dearth of decent lunch spots, let alone any making fresh and healthy food. This is just about the only place to get an excellent design your own salad (the competition uses processed vegetables in various stages of rotting). They have three kinds of marinated chicken; my favorite is the lemon. All of the vegetables are crunchy, fresh, and neatly cut. The homeade dressings, especially the seasme ginger and thai peanut, are perfectly flavored. The pressed sandwiches on multigrain flat bread are also a good choice, and the specials board changes with the season. The large, flat, chewey brownies are addictive, and the blueberry muffins that seem to be made with non-white flour are very popular. All of the employees and the owner are friendly. My only complaint (and this is a problem with Newark eateries in general) is that it is too slow and they need to keep the lines moving better for people who don't have the luxury of taking a leisurely lunch.
